Stuff the Bus is WestSide Baby’s beloved summer campaign, bringing neighbors, businesses, and organizations together to help ensure local children have the essentials they need to thrive.
At the heart of the campaign is a familiar sight: our bright yellow and white school bus, which travels throughout the community to parades and local businesses, where it becomes a giant collection bin waiting to be “stuffed” with donations. For decades, the bus has been a symbol of our community’s generosity and a reminder that when we come together, we can make a meaningful difference for local families.
Originally launched as a summer diaper drive, Stuff the Bus was created to address one of the most urgent and overlooked needs facing families with young children: diaper insecurity. The campaign quickly became a beloved community tradition, with volunteers, businesses, and donors working together to fill the bus with diapers and wipes for babies and toddlers. At its peak, Stuff the Bus collected more than 400,000 diapers in a single summer, helping thousands of families across Western Washington.
As WestSide Baby celebrates 25 years of serving our community, we’re excited to bring Stuff the Bus back with an expanded focus that reflects the needs of children of all ages.

Financial donations help WestSide Baby respond quickly to families’ most urgent needs by purchasing high-demand essentials in the sizes and quantities children need most. Saturday, July 18 at 11:00a in the West Seattle Junction.
Thursday, July 30 | West Seattle QFC | 2:00p – 6:00p
Thursday, August 13 | Northgate QFC | 2:00p – 6:00p
Saturday, August 29 | Westwood Village | 11:00a – 3:00p
We’re proud to partner with QFC to bring back Stuff the Bus! This summer, we invite our entire community to help fill the bus at various QFC locations with diapers, wipes, and diaper cream for local families! With school out of session and many traditional support systems on pause, summer can be one of the most challenging times for parents experiencing diaper need. Because diapers and wipes can’t be purchased with SNAP or WIC benefits, every donation helps provide an essential resource that keeps babies healthy, comfortable, and thriving. Our community is strongest when we lift one another up. Whether you donate one package or a cart full, your generosity helps ensure every child has the essentials they deserve. Help us Stuff the Bus and show what’s possible when neighbors come together for neighbors.

Our program staff works hard to track and learn what our partner providers need most for the children and families they care for, and we appreciate your help to collect these most requested items. Thank you for including this list as you promote your drive.
