Get to know WestSide Baby’s new Distribution Manager!

Tell me a little about yourself and what brought you to WestSide Baby. I’ve worked in a variety of roles, but over the past year, I realized my heart is in nonprofit work. I wanted to use my time and skills to give back in a meaningful way. WestSide Baby was the first and only place I applied because it immediately aligned with my values. When I moved to the U.S. as a kid, my family was low-resourced and received help from organizations like this – so getting the chance to give back in a similar way really spoke to me.
What excites you most about your new role leading our provider partner program?
I’m excited about the organizational side of the role – I love making systems run more efficiently. I’m someone who enjoys fixing things, even outside of work (I tinker with cars in my spare time), and this is the mindset I’m bringing into this role.
I’m also looking forward to connecting with the people on the front lines – our Provider Partners who are doing the hard, important work every day. Hearing their stories and seeing how our efforts directly support families is incredibly meaningful to me. It feels powerful to be part of an organization that’s focused on giving, especially in a time when so much is being taken away.
What professional and personal experiences prepared you for this work?
Professionally, my time working at Bobcat of Chattanooga really prepared me for the logistics side of this role. It’s a large company that services construction equipment, and working in shipping and receiving gave me a solid understanding of how distribution works. Keeping up with the high demand there taught me how to stay organized and efficient – skills that definitely carry over into this work.
On the personal side, volunteering with Young Life throughout college was incredibly formative. I got to build relationships with people from all kinds of backgrounds and income levels, from all over the country. It really helped me learn how to connect with people, understand different perspectives, and feel comfortable striking up a conversation with just about anyone. That ability to relate and build trust is something I bring into every part of this work.
What are your hopes or goals for how we grow and strengthen our partnerships?
I hope to help grow WestSide Baby into a household name that people recognize right away. I want WestSide Baby to be known as the organization that helps meet essential needs for kids in our community and an organization people instantly associate with care, dignity, and support.
What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love playing soccer and play for my church. My favorite team is America, from the Mexican Soccer League. A lot of people hate them because they win so often.
A few other things: I’m a certified web developer, so I love to make apps and websites. I love design, and anything that is tech. I’m a huge tech guy. I also love DJing. I love music. I love dancing…bachata, merengue, even a little bit of salsa.
What’s your go-to comfort food?
My comfort food has always been a creamy chicken dish. It can be Italian, Thai, Mexican…it just needs rice or noodles, chicken, and a creamy sauce…so many versions of this dish and they are all amazing. And luckily for me, my wife loves to cook!
What are you looking forward to most in your first year at WestSide Baby?
I’m really looking forward to understanding how everything works from start to finish. My goal is that by the end of my first year, I’ll know the processes inside and out and will be able to make improvements that help everything run more smoothly. I’m excited about figuring out what changes could make life easier for the team and our partners.
How can the WestSide Baby community support you and the Partner Program moving forward?
Introductions are huge – helping people get to know who I am and what I do will go a long way in building trust and connection. I’d also love support in identifying ways we can go above and beyond for our partners. Even small changes—like figuring out how to better support partners during pick-ups – can make a big difference. I’m still learning what those needs are, but I’m excited to find ways to make their experience easier and more impactful.
