Special Volunteer Opportunities:

If you care about child safety and are handy – WestSide Baby needs you!

PURPOSE:  The primary responsibility of the Equipment Specialist is inspect every piece of equipment that comes through our doors for recalls, safety and functionality, and cleanliness. Sometimes figuring out how a piece of equipment works requires some research and persistence. One reward is the knowledge that items you work on which pass our quality control standards will be greatly appreciated by the recipient families. And your work will contribute to extending the functional life of important items that keep babies safe.

Location: White Center  – 10002 14th Ave SW Seattle 98146

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week.  It takes time to become an independent volunteer in this role due to the myriad of details involved in baby equipment, so we would like this volunteer to be available for training during weekdays (preferably Monday or Friday mornings) to train with current Equipment Specialists. Once comfortable in the role, the volunteer may set their own schedule.

The right volunteer should be…

Physical Requirements: Some equipment can be heavy, so being able to lift 25 lbs. may be required.

CRIB CHECKERS (High demand!)

Join the growing volunteer team at WestSide Baby as a Crib Checker! This specially trained position is essential to ensure that all donated cribs have the necessary parts, hardware, and appropriate instruction manuals, making them safe for distribution to families served by WestSide Baby.

Skills Required:

(Check back in May 2018!)

Volunteer Groups

WestSide Baby is an exciting place to volunteer as an individual – but is even more fun when you are part of a group! We host church groups, corporate groups, school groups, and sports teams in addition to hosting volunteer-centered baby showers & birthday parties! You can sign up your group to volunteer at our White Center or South Lake Union location.

Group opportunities are limited – contact Shana Allen, Volunteer Relations Manager for more information about signing up.

Children & Youth Volunteer Opportunities

All children ages 8-14 and up are welcome to volunteer at WestSide Baby and must be accompanied by an adult guardian. All youth 14+ can volunteer on their own – and can even participate in our special after-school hours! See our volunteer page for updated information on hours and location.

Children under 8 can participate in the spirit of volunteering and community service by hosting a donation drive for WestSide Baby. We have seen fun birthday parties turned diaper drive parties, sleepovers turned pajama drive sleepovers, or school donation drives led by incredible children who want to give back to others in their community. If you have an idea of a drive for WestSide Baby you want to do with an amazing young person in your life, let us know by emailing Nhoell Inthavong, Volunteer Engagement Coordinator.

All children under 18 must arrive with a WestSide Baby Minor Volunteer Parent/Guardian Consent form.
