Current Volunteer Openings


In order to garner donations, support and brand awareness we engage in a busy calendar of community outreach events throughout the summer – hosting an information booth at West Seattle Summerfest, Capitol Hill Pride, Ballard Seafood Fest and others. As such, WestSide Baby is seeking an energetic team of people that will support our summer outreach efforts.
By the end of summer, you will have gained valuable guerrilla marketing skills, as well as strengthened your resume/portfolio. This is a great opportunity for individuals who want to make a difference while having fun meeting people at local festivals and fairs, especially students who are exploring a career in non-profit, marking, PR or communications.
Time Commitment: Participation in a minimum of two shifts per month from June through July. Most events take place for 3-5 hours on weekends.

Job Duties
 Assist with the set-up, teardown and facilitation of WestSide Baby booth
 Represent WestSide Baby at off-site events (such as West Seattle SummerFest, Ballard Seafood Fest etc.) under the supervision of the Marketing and Development Intern
 Manage the distribution of marketing materials at all off-site events
 Staff an interactive, informational booth at events
 Brainstorm cost-effective guerilla marketing tactics that can be implemented throughout the summer
 Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
 Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks
 High level of energy, enthusiasm and initiative
 Works well independently and as part of a team
 Strong customer service and oral communication skills
 Proficient in basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, misc. internet research)
 Experience in promotional events a plus
 Must be willing to work weekends in the summer
 Must be able to coordinate transportation to and from events

The Pick-Up Assistant is an essential role on the WestSide Baby team to help ensure all items collected make it into the hands of children and families who may need them most in the Great Seattle community.

The primary focus of the Pick-Up Assistant is to support the Program Assistant with the distribution process, including greeting provider partners, retrieving their orders from shelves, and facilitating the sign-out process while providing excellent customer service to our provider partner network. 
Time Commitment: WestSide Baby’s “Provider Pick-Up Hours” are every Thursday from Noon-3pm.   Ideally, we’re looking for on-going weekly assistance.

Requirements–The right volunteer should be a people-person with good interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as a great attention to detail. Ideal volunteer candidates must enjoy an active work environment as there is often a lot of moving around (see physical requirements below).

Physical requirements – must be able to physically stock shelves, move items from one location to another and load/ unload orders; must be able to lift 25 lbs. repeatedly, while often utilizing a ladder or step stool.


If you care about child safety and have that handy skill set, WestSide Baby needs you:

 PURPOSE:  The primary responsibility of the Equipment Specialist is inspect every piece of equipment that comes through our doors for recalls, safety and functionality, and cleanliness. Sometimes figuring out how a piece of equipment works requires some research and persistence. One reward is the knowledge that items you work on which pass our quality control standards will be greatly appreciated by the recipient families. And your work will contribute to extending the functional life of important items that keep babies safe.

Location: White Center Operation Center – 10002 14th Ave SW Seattle 98146

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week.  It takes time to become an independent volunteer in this role due to the myriad of details involved in baby equipment, so we would like this volunteer to be available for training during weekdays (preferably Monday or Friday mornings) to train with current Equipment Specialists. Once comfortable in the role, the volunteer may set their own schedule.

Qualifications: The right volunteer should be:

  • handy and like to work with their hands
  • able to work independently (once trained)
  • detail oriented
  • conscientious

Physical Requirements: Some equipment can be heavy, so being able to lift 25 lbs. may be required.


Join the growing volunteer team at WestSide Baby as a Crib Checker! This specially trained position is essential to ensure that all donated cribs have the necessary parts, hardware, and appropriate instruction manuals, making them safe for distribution to families served by WestSide Baby.


  • Check each incoming, donated crib for any recalls in the CPSC database
  • Print appropriate instruction manuals for cribs donated without them
  • Fully assemble each crib while following the instructions, ensuring that we have all necessary parts and hardware.
  • Disassemble and prepare each crib for distribution

Skills Required:

  • Enjoys working with hands and assembling things
  • Interest or intuition of “how things work”
  • Enjoys working independently and working from start to finish
  • Ability to use basic tools
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs at a time

Groups and Children Under 18

We have a number of opportunities for groups to volunteer at our sites in White Center and the Central District. We work with church groups, corporate groups, schools and more. Find out why volunteering your group with WestSide Baby is the right thing for you.

Group opportunities are limited and will be scheduled as available. All children under 18 must arrive with a WestSide Baby Minor Volunteer Parent/Guardian Consent form  and children between the ages of 8 and 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Join the Car Seat Guru Team

Thursdays, 3-4:30pm
Saturdays, 10-1pm
(A perfect job for high school students or working adults)

WestSide Baby needs a team of individuals dedicated to getting safe car seats out to the community! We are looking to add 3-4 people to our volunteer team to clean, register and help inspect car seats so they are ready to keep kids safe in our community! We’ll train you, and no previous car seat knowledge is needed!
